Today's Hip Hop 101 in sampling comes from the Queen of "blue eyed soul" Teena Marie and her 1981 classic which is one of my favorites "Square Biz" along with it's borrower, Nas' Hip Hop supergroup The Firm's "Firm Biz" produced by The Trackmasters. Lady T's (as she was known in the hood) "Square Biz" however wasn't just a great song to sample but in terms of Hip Hop marked the first time ever a white female rapped on a record which can be seen at the 3:04 mark.
